Nas Titles New Album 'Life Is Good'

Tags: MTV Shows

Nas Escobar, one of Hip-Hops most celebrated MCs is ready to make his re-entrance into the rap game with his newly titled album "Life Is Good." The Queensbridge king made the announcement earlier today via his Twitter account. "My album title is - Life Is Good" God's son wrote on Twitter.

Recently MTV News caught up with Nas where the MC elaborated on his highly praised rap flow.

"I like to stay doing me," Nas said. "I think the style is timeless. I hear it in a lot of people and it reminds me how timeless it is, the kind of style I do. And once I hit it, and it's right, it's golden. If I'm a little off with it? Ahh, I can't even listen to the song ever again. I'm just trying to perfect it so that it's right and it doesn't sound like I'm just doing something I [already] did. It feels fresh; like this is the first time I'm ever doing it."

Critics have heaped critical praise on Nas ever since his Illmatic debut was deemed a classic back in 1994. But the "Hate Me Now" MC has still been endured his fair share of criticism over the years. And he may be his own worst critic.

"My last record, I can pick a song or two, or three that I could have did without," Nas said, referring to 2008's Untitled. "And there's songs that I left off the album that I should have put on [it]. We all go through that. So with this record I want to be able to put it on and listen to the whole thing."

Nas Loves the Kids

Nas loves the kids.

Although Nas has gone through very public legal battles with ex-wife Kelis and public embarrassment over the situation with Carmen Bryan and Jay-Z in what spawned one of the most dynamic rap beefs in hip hop, he still lights up when talking about their son together and his eldest, daughter Destiny. Nas says "My kids are my everything I got the best kids in the whole world. My daughter is at the age where she can call me up and tell me what she thinks about Beyonce's new video and what she thinks about Wiz Khalifa and we can talk about it all. My son is walking and talking and he's no joke. I got the best kids in the world. I walk around everyday very blessed." Happy early fathers day to Nas.

Nas Wins An Emmy ... Before A Grammy?

After nine albums, millions of records sold, a handful of mixtapes, countless tour dates and being labeled as arguably the nicest MC to ever grip the microphone, Queens rapper Nas recently won a prestigious award for ... a film.

The Braveheart poet recently snagged a National Sports Emmy for his ESPN documentary, "Survival 1." The ESPN short, directed, narrated and produced by Esco is based on the Liberian Amputee Soccer team. The squad of players grabbed national headlines as the majority of the players were victims of a civil war in Libya that injured millions of natives.

News of the award caught Nas himself by surprise, who noted that he managed to secure such a major accomplishment as an Emmy before receiving a Grammy after almost two decades in the rap game.

"After all these years of making music, I am honored to have this be the first award I ever won of this magnitude," Nas said. "An Emmy before a Grammy. Crazy [bleep]."

Any Nas fan or Hip-Hop head would strongly back the Queensbridge MC's shock. Nas has been nominated for Grammys on a few occasions but in none of the former events did he walk away with the prized trophy.

Nas' Emmy comes just days after pal Jay-Z also snagged a similar award.

The Brooklyn rapper won a Sports Emmy Award for Outstanding Music Composition/ Direction/ Lyrics for Hova’s rendition of “Run This Town.” Earlier this year Hov performed the song during this year’s Super Bowl XLIV opener.
